First Step for the 'New Utah Saves'

America Saves, the nationwide campaign to save money, and Utah Saves is going under the knife for a brand new look. We are first rolling out a new logo which you can see above.

The new tag line will be "Start Small. Think Big." This is a great way to help people realize that saving doesn't have to be momentous. Do what you can and it will eventually pay off in a big way.

The next thing is a new website and campaign materials so, please, look back to www.utahsaves.org in the coming months.
Frugal Tip of the Month:
Take Advantage

Have you ever seen those ads in newspapers mentioning that there is a free class for beginners yoga or a trial period for a new product. Take advantage of them! They are there for a reason. The business wants to peak your interest in something new. It could be a great date and who knows you might actually like it.

Go Out at Night.

Have you ever noticed how wonderful the night sky looks in the summer time? Ever wanted to get a better look at it? Utah Saves and Salt Lake and Ogden Astronomical Societies are teaming up.

Come to a free star party and the first 25 Utah Savers will receive a planisphere.

The Astronomical Societies have some of the largest telescopes in Utah to view the Sun, Moons, Planets, Stars, Nebulae, and Galaxies. After viewing these amazing images, use the planishere to help with viewing them when ever you'd like!

All Star Parties start at dusk (about 8:30) and end at 11:00 PM. Although the parties occur several times a  month all over the state, only the below will be handing out the planishperes:
  • August 14 - Wheeler Farm (6351 S. 900 E.)
  • August 15 - Stansbury Park Observatory
  • August 15 - White Rock Bay on Antelope Island
Cost is $9.00 a car to enter the island, but is good for all day. The gate closes a half hour after dusk although you will be able to leave whenever.
  • August  28 - Harmons (Brickyard 3200 S. 1300 E.)
