Utah Participates in America Saves Week 2010
With national savings rates currently at 6.9 percent, Utah Savers are keeping up with the trend. Congratulations! As you know, building wealth starts when you set a goal and make a plan to reach that goal. During America Saves Week in February, we once again had statewide activities. Some highlights were:
- Garfield County – Utah Savers entered to win prizes, including totes with office supplies.
- Guadalupe Schools – Utah Saves posters hung in the school and a children’s activity.
- United Way of Utah County – Promotional materials and emails to the community, event at Pirates Cove
- Juab County – Event at Salt Creek Cinemas, classes
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Weber and Davis – materials to parents and partners
- Cottages of Hope – VITA site and classes
- Box Elder County – two-hour class on organizing your personal financial papers
- Salt Lake County – classes on Managing Post Holiday Debt, marriage and money, teaching money to children, and money and health saving tips on spring cleaning
- Hill Air Force Base – classes on retirement, credit reports and scores, couponing and rebating, and a huge Saves presence at the Cultural Celebration
Many thanks to United Way of Salt Lake and the Utah Council on Financial & Economic Education, and to generous long-term grants from Kem C. Gardner Family, Intermountain Healthcare, GE Money, State Farm Insurance and contributions from sponsoring organizations, national and local foundations and support from the Consumer Federation of America.
